General George C. Marshall gave Eisenhower the command at the start of WWII

In command of Operation TORCH in North Africa to draw some attention away from a Europe invasion.

The TORCH Operation was on Oran and Algiers, Algeria.

Eisenhower made Italy surrender after invading Sicily and Italy, in 1943. 

Eisenhower was in charge of Operation OVERLORD that was in planning since the attack on Pearl Harbor which was an attack on Normandy, France on June 6th,1944; D-Day. 2,000 men involved in attack.

The OVERLORD Operation attacked Gold, Sword, Juno, Omaha, and Utah beaches in Normandy, France.

Operation DRAGON put Allied soldiers in southern France.

2 million Allied soldiers were in France by August 1944. 

German General Alfred Jodl surrendered to General Dwight D. Eisenhower on May 7, 1945.

Created the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in 1958.

Alaska and Hawaii became states in 1958 while Eisenhower was President.
